The week long Fal River Festival culminated in a number of closing events in St. Mawes yesterday. The weather for the whole week has been great, and it held out long enough for a brilliant day to close with. (Just as well it wasn't today as it is has been truly awful all day)

The Castle to Castle swim was a great success with more than 200 swimmers competing and raising money for the RNLI. I was involved with Paramour as a guard boat along with many other boats and volunteers. I also acted as press boat and had the honour of transporting Gold Medalist Sharron Davies across the Carrick Roads as she was presenting the swimmers with medals as they emerged from the water on Castle Beach in St. Mawes.

Then it was into St. Mawes to catch the last of the bands playing on the quay, grab a hot-dog and help Sophie pack away on the slipway. The evening was completed for me by taking a lovely couple, Mandy and Bill, across to Mylor for supper at Castaways. They insited I joined them, and we spent an enjoyable couple of hours chatting in the bar. They are celebrating their wedding anniversary today (Monday) so I hope they've had a good day. We left Mylor in the late evening sunshine and headed back to St. Mawes, just in time for me to meet Peter from the ferry and we grabbed a quick drink in the St. Mawes Hotel. All in all a great day.
